What we Expect from you

Sandra is a leading talent agent and principal of Singer Stage School which is well respected in the industry for offering some of the very best all round training for under 21’s in the UK today.

“I am looking for hard working students with potential to train.”

– Sandra Singer

Her graduating students who have decided to make performing arts a career choice have secured places at leading colleges such as: Arts Ed, Urdang, Laines, Bird, LAMDA, London Studio Centre, GSA, Mountview, Central, Masters, Performers, TTC.

Training speaks for itself with our success of our students

We are looking for new students with drive, personality, who will work hard, and have a potential to train and be mentored. We offer semi vocational training to students age 6 to 18. We have a special section of the school (Pre-Grads) in the form of a part time foundation course to prepare them for the industry.

The company is an approved training school: BBC, ITV, Member National Youth Theatre, along with training for ISTD (Dance), LAMDA drama examinations, Acrobatic Arts.

To join the main stage school, you would be expected to attend three classes a week minimum each Saturday. These classes consist of: an hour of Dance (various styles), Singing/Vocal training and Drama (Covering Screen and Stage).

Classes run between 10am-2pm – exact times within those hours are dependant on age.

The school is split into 4 groups – Lower (Aged 6-10), Middle (Ages 11-13), Seniors (Ages 13 to 16) and Pre-Graduates (Age 16+). The Pre graduate class also have access to college application preparation for those of you wishing to make performing arts a career choice.

For students considering a career choice in dance or musical theatre you would be expected to train Tuesdays and Wednesdays too. Working on subjects such as Ballet, Technical Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics for Dance, Pointework etc.

For those of you going down the Drama route we offer a panel of fantastic tutors on a Saturday to enable you to experience different types of drama, along with LAMDA exam classes and screen acting classes. But every student as we mentioned above takes part in the main Stage School classes for the three hours Saturday (drama, singing and dance) so all students are well rounded performers.

The Audition Tape

We are accepting self-tapes sent by “We Transfer”, Drop Box or on unlisted You Tube links.

First of all we would like to get to know you a little.

  • Please start by telling us your name, date of birth, age in September (when new students start).
  • Then we would love to know have you had any previous training, and are you at a stage or dance school at the moment. (Please note: You would have to give notice to leave where you are training right now (and any Agency representation) to join Singer Stage School if you are offered a place. The school is owned by leading talent agent Sandra Singer, this is her training school for potential performers)
  • Tell us which subject is your favourite or strongest area and why you would like to join Singer Stage School!

Here’s some help with taping at home (It’s a very thorough list so not all relevant to your audition tape, but might give you some tips!)

What we're Looking for

Firstly you film your name etc as it mentions above, followed by:

DANCE

Please perform a short dance routine to camera, to any music you like. Around a minute long would be great. If you currently train in several styles we’d love to see some different ones, so feel free to do more than one video. If you already have any footage of dance/gymnastics, cheerleading etc we would like to see that too.

SINGING

Can you sing a song of your choice (must be from a musical), you can find most backing tracks online (there’s lots available on YouTube, iTunes and Spotify).

DRAMA

Material can be downloaded from the internet. Search for solo monalogue (for over 11) If you are aged 10 and under then we would like you to memorise a poem or a monologue, and film yourself performing it for us. You cannot use the paper to read from you must memorise it? For any of the age groups If you are age 11 and over we would require you to learn and perform a ‘Monologue” to camera this must be learnt and then filmed for us to see.

OTHER SKILLS

If you are skilled at playing an instrument, or have any other special skills (sports, beatboxing/rap, song writing etc) we would love to hear/see more so please send any further footage to us.

When auditioning for students we are looking for potential, enthusiasm, personality and whether the children/teenagers are the right fit for the school. So please don’t panic if you don’t have lots of previous training or experience.

We also understand that you may be more confident in one of two areas (out of drama, singing and dance)– please give all 3 aspects a try for your audition video even if it’s out of your comfort zone at the moment.

The deadline for entries at the moment will be June 30th. We may ask you to do a further audition if we require you to be recalled. You will be notified around early to mid July if you are being offered a place. A deposit will be required to hold the place.
